Everyday Mindfulness and the Gifts of Paying Attention

Do you ever notice that when you really need something, or when you need some feeling to shift inside of you, that you get a message through someone's words, a Tweet, an email, a conversation, a chance encounter, a line in a book, a feeling conveyed from a stranger, an intuitive message, or some other gift that comes seemingly out of nowhere?

When we really pay attention, we are mindful. That mindfulness paves the way to our solutions; to getting unstuck; to knowing the right thing to say at the right moment; to touching someone’s life when they most need it; and, to healing something that needs healing.

When we need to find a solution to what ails us, paying attention to our body, diet, surroundings, relationships, and everyday interactions is one of the most important, self-empowering, and proactive things you can do, aside from being compassionate toward yourself.

If you wake up every day with the intention of paying attention to what you need to feel good and what you need to do to heal, you will be blessed with insight and gifts every single day. That kind of mindfulness, in turn, will have an effect on how you touch other people’s lives and the messages that you convey throughout the day. It is an everyday practice of paying attention to your thoughts, feelings, and sensations, without judgement, and really being present moment by moment. It’s slowing the pace just enough to take notice of what you are feeling, what you are thinking, and what you need to do to better take care of yourself and those around you.
